(2010 Vintage) A fresh take on Clos Du Val's world-class style, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon continues the winery's tradition of producing truly distinctive wines of balance and elegance while adding a hint of modernity. Its opulent, brooding purple hue is accentuated with aromas of ripe black and red fruit, black pepper and subtle hints of toast. The palate displays a seamless integration of rich flavors which include chocolate, toffee and ripe blackberry. The wine has a rich, full mouth feel marked by focused, silky tannins and a long, lingering finish.
Blue and blackberry. Huge fruit followed by a bit of a balanced feel from nice tannins. Follow up with some clove.

Wine & Spirits(2006 Vintage) The same can be said for the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Atlas Peak. That vintage was so good, it is hard to hide all the fruit and character. The wine possesses a dark ruby/purple color, medium body, good elegance and a pleasant personality, but what might have been produced if they took the chains off? These wines should be better than they are. They seem like failsafe sort of efforts, designed for the uncritical shopper, but holding little interest for the serious wine lover. They are well-made and clean, but they are what I call a "single glass" style of wine. While there is nothing wrong with the first glass, there is not enough interest for a second. Actually that is an improvement for Clos du Val where the wines have gone through a sterile period that appears to be coming to an end.
