(From 2012 Vintage) The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2013 is brick red in colour, bursting with notes of bright, red fruits, dried violets and hints of savory spice. The taste is medium-bodied and balanced with luscious acidity and tart cherry flavours, complemented by a long savoury finish.
Wine Enthusiast (90 points) - Avignonesi’s Vino Nobile offers an alluring fragrance of rose petal and balsamic herbs along with cherry and spice accents. The palate delivers restrained black fruit flavors alongside notes of chocolate and licorice. – Karine O’Keefe
Wine Spectator (91 points)- This round version is laced with black cherry and raspberry fruit, showing hints of cocoa and spice. Firm tannins lend support, making this well-balanced overall, with a lingering finish of warm chocolate cake. Drink now through 2022. – Bruce Sanderson
Confident, grown-up style, combining the classic chewy cherry edge of Sangiovese with extra blackcurrant and damson flavors. There’s also a savoury, earthy character, aromas of vanilla and grilled meat and just the right amount of chewy tannin. Iron fist in a velvet glove, very impressive.
This vintage of Vino Nobile displays intense aromas of red fruit, Mediterranean shrubs and sweet spices, with a balsamic touch and a round, delicate, long lingering taste.
Chocolate notes. Distinct oak without being overwhelming. Decent finish.
