(From 2013 Vintage) Mocha and coffee with blackberry and brambleberry. Full-bodied and smooth and ready for your barbecued meats.
(From 2010 Vintage) The 2010 Sledgehammer Zinfandel begins with vivid aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, black cherry and a good dose of black pepper. Dark fruit flavors of dried cherry and currant, highlighted by tobacco notes, dominate the palate. The wine is balanced by soft tannins and added vanilla highlights from the influence of aging in oak.
Dark ruby to purple, somewhat leggy. Nose has some dirty feet along with a background of raisins. Sweet candy fruit, and lots, up front with a prickly backend. Quite a bit of acidity and but more tannins. Could use food, but is quite fun. 2012/01/25
