(2012 Vintage) Cabernet Sauvignon was the first wine produced by Rombauer Vineyards when the winery was founded in 1980. This bottling is made exclusively with Napa Valley fruit from vineyards owned by the Rombauer family, along with carefully selected sites from some of the region’s top growers. The fruit for this wine comes from vineyards in the Stags Leap District, Atlas Peak, Mount Veeder, St. Helena, Calistoga, Rutherford and Howell Mountain AVAs. The vintage brought a perfect growing season with warm, dry conditions that allowed the fruit to develop full, concentrated flavors. Sustainable farming practices throughout the growing season were tailored to each block with the assistance of aerial photos produced using NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) technology. All fruit was hand-picked and sorted in the vineyards.
Winemaker's Notes: 94% Zinfandel, 6% Petite Syrah Bright purple-ruby color; vibrant aromas of ripe dark berry fruit and subtle vanilla. Plush, focused jammy flavors of blackberry and plum balance with black pepper and nutmeg for a rich mid-palate. Smooth tannins present a lingering finish. Our favorite pairings for this wine include rib-eye steak with bleu cheese, Cajun-spiced sausage and blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
Planet Grape(2013 Vintage) Rich and velvety with notes of wild cherry, blackcurrant, bacon-wrapped fig, black licorice, black olive, crushed flowers, carob powder, vanilla bean, and sandalwood.
Planet Grape(2012 Vintage) Boldly seductive with notes of cherry, plum, fig, sage, black olive, green olive, cedar, vanilla bean and dark chocolate.
