This focused 2009 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay reveals just ripe pineapple, lychee and bright lemony acidity with beautiful floral and mineral notes of honeysuckle, gardenia and wet stone. The softly lilting finish carries on and on.
The grapes were hand-sorted and gently whole-cluster pressed. After overnight settling, the juice was racked to barrels for 100% native yeast fermentation followed by malo-lactic fermentation. The wine was aged in 90% new French oak for eleven months on the lees, which were stirred weekly. It was not fined or sterile filtered.
Wine SpectatorFresh, intense and vibrant, displaying a tight mix of full-bodied, citrus-laced green apple and pear flavors, with a touch of crème brûlée. Ends with a delicate mix of subtle flavors. Drink now through 2016. –JL
