Here it is! The new vintage of Ex Umbris reminds us of the complexity of the ‘07, but with robustness of the 2008! Amazing scents of Bing cherry pie, bacon wrapped dates, green peppercorns and molasses pervade. Rich, warm flavors of late summer strawberries, brooding dark plum and dates expand on the palate and finish with sarsaparilla and black licorice. Serve alongside herb roasted pork, game dishes and savory stuffing. Drink now through 2016.
The fruit for this wine was hand harvested, chilled, destemmed and fermented with manual punch downs twice daily. The wine was racked once after malolactic fermentation and then aged in French oak barrels.
Wine Spectator Top 100: 2011 #25! This is truly a incredible Syrah and a difficult one to beat for the price!!! Deep plum and dark cherry perfume precedes the velvety texture with bushels of blackberry, peppercorn and black licorice playing against plush tannins.
Love it. Tasty cherries
Very good Syrah
