Presumably a blend of old vine Garnacha, the 2009 Las Rocas Viñas Viejas over delivers and possess a perfumed, spice-driven bouquet of sweet cherry fruit, dusty earth, cedar, and dried herbs that flows to a medium to full-bodied, silky, and elegant palate. Balanced, clean, and with integrated acidity.
Dark purple. Blackberry and blueberry preserve aromas are complemented by notes of vanilla and candied licorice. Shows good depth, offering smoky dark berry flavors and a hint of bitter chocolate. Closes on a sweet note, with slow-mounting tannins and good persistence.
Smooth for an inexpensive red.
