(2009 Vintage) This is a relatively inexpensive wine and it deserves to be. The nose has only hints of Bordeaux cassis fruits, but is dominated at the opening by rough stem alcohol. Eventually this comes off but you really are still struggling to find anything charming. The tanins are fairly well balanced but that is a moot point amid an overly-acidic attack. This goes beyond freshness - it is reminiscent of unripe fruit and stalks in the fermentation.
