Wine Description

(From 2013 Vintage) Textbook conditions saw near-ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, even fruit set, and a lengthy stretch of warm days and cool and often foggy nights. Late and light rains held off until Napa Valley’s treasured wine grapes found optimal ripeness, bringing exceptional quality to the crush pad and into the cellar. The abundance of perfectly ripe grapes—with a smooth balance of acids and sugars—provided a broad sweep of opportunities for winemakers to cull only the most select fruit.

Winemaker's Notes

Sweet black currants, spices, violets, asphalt and grilled herbs all take shape in this mid-weight, yet luscious red. This is a decidedly refined, plush Petite Syrah with lovely balance, but little of the weight or firmness usually associated with the grape, which can be good or bad, depending on one’s point of view. T-bones, rib-eyes and burgers pair great with this wine! The bold body of the red meat combined with the charcoal flavors bridge to the wine's oak and tannin.
