(2008 Vintage) Complimented by an appealing light-straw color, the 2008 Cycles Gladiator Pinot Grigio releases lovely floral and tree-fruit aromas as poured. The nose leads to flavors reminiscent of pummelo fruit, combined with distinct notes of pear and green apple. The bouquet is extremely pleasant, tantalizing and complex. Hints of lychee fruit, along with bursts of mild sweetness, are apparent with the first sip. This smooth, silky and enjoyable wine provides a luxurious mouthfeel that leads to a consistent thread of balanced acidity. Bright and clean, the Cycles Gladiator Pinot Grigio pairs expertly with angel hair pasta tossed with fresh basil, cherry tomatoes and chunks of parmesan. For a heartier meal, serve with grilled swordfish, brown rice and asparagus tips.

Now there is no question that this is a comparatively simple Chardonnay whose singular message is appley fruit, but fruit it has, and it is clean and nicely rounded in feel. It is not one for aging and wants drinking now, but there are few $10.00 Chardonnays to be found that possess quite the varietal honesty that is exhibited here.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
Wine Buyer(2008 Vintage) This wine leads off with those lovely cool climate aromatics of peach and pineapple, and a very subtle spice from the oak. Rich and ripe are the first words we think of when tasting this wine. The tongue is wrapped in a fresh compote of white stone and tropical fruit flavors. Bright acidity provides a lift for the fruit, suspending the sensation well into the finish.
