30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc , 60% Merlot About The Wine: An amazing wine produced by Amélie Aubert. It reveals perfume of blackberries, cherries and chocolate layers with some spice and cedar notes. This stylish wine shows elegance and concentration of fruits, delicate tannins and cedar, integrated oak. Complex and inviting, the structure is fine, the fruit is intense and the finish is persistently long. About The Region: Though there are 57 different appellations within the general Bordeaux region, seven appellations make up what is formally known as “Bordeaux.” The Bordeaux (red and white) and Bordeaux Superieur (red and white) appellations extend over the whole Bordeaux vineyard area, and represent a large amount of all wine from Bordeaux. Bordeaux Superieur holds slightly more stringent quality restrictions, including older vines with lesser yields, a higher alcohol content, and aging for a minimum of 12 months. Their wines are thus more complex overall, and age better. About The Winemaker: The Aubert vineyards are a family estate run by Alain and Bernadette Aubert, with the help of their 3 daughters and a son-in-law. I called up Amelie Aubert, one of the daughters – and winemaker for Chateau de Ribebon—just a few days ago, to talk about this particular wine. “The soils,” she began, and I could practically hear her smile, “we’ve been working the soils, aerating the soils, really caring for them, to provide the vines with maximum nourishment.” Healthy grapes are the key to success, she explained. “We are farmers above all, and with minimal intervention, we want to produce the best quality grapes.” And you can taste it in the final result: wonderful fruity aromas envelop your senses in this delightful wine. Additional Details Vineyards: 45 year old vines in clay and limestone soils, on a plateau overlooking the Dordogne River. The clay and limestone offer a great nutritional balance to the vines. Farming: Ripe and healthy grapes are the most important objective. The vines are tended to by hand with the utmost respect for the environment and ecology. Harvest and winemaking is done parcel by parcel and varietal by varietal in order to allow every piece of the vineyard to express itself and excel before blending. Yield: 40 hl/ha Winemaking: Sorted on table in the cellar then crushed. Wine is made in stainless steel temperature controlled vats, and aged 12 months in oak barrels. Imported by Serge Dore Selections Chateau De Ribebon Variety: 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Color: Deep Claret Nose: A Gently Perfumed Nose Of Blackberry, Cherry And Cassis Fruit And Chocolate Layers With Some Spices And Cedary Notes. Palate: This Stylish Wine Shows Elegance And Concentration With Brooding Fruits, Delicate Tannins And Cedary, Integrated Oak. Complex And Inviting, The Structure Is Fine, The Fruit Intense And The Finish Persistently Long. Assessment: Great Wines Produce By Alain Aubert (6th generation Of Aubert Producing Wine In The Region) And His Daughters. They Are Also Producers Of The Famous Chateau La Couspaude And Chateau Haut Gravet In St. Emilion. (2015 Vintage) "The wine, from one of the five Aubert family properties, is rich and full of great fruit. With ripe tannins and blackberry generosity over the wood aging, this is still structured yet ready to drink." The Wine Enthusiast, 91 Points
