Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Wine Description

(2012 Vintage) While not the most structured vintage of Beaucastel, this is a full-bodied, creamy textured rendering of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Finely detailed notes of plum, thyme and leather mark the nose, while the flavors are ripe almost to the point of jamminess. Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, Note : 93/100, 2016-05-01 Opaque ruby. Deep-pitched black and blue fruit liqueur aromas are complemented by suggestions of licorice and cola. Broad, sweet and fleshy, offering concentrated blackberry and boysenberry flavors enlivened by juicy acidity and a peppery spice nuance. Tightens up slowly on the youthfully tannic, focused finish, which clings with resonating spiciness and outstanding tenacity.

Full bodied beautiful purple. Cherries explode on nose and palate. I can see the kirsch reference too. Long luxurious finish. Wow. Leather and some earthiness.

(2004 Vintage) "Thoroughly primal, with a torrent of raspberry and boysenberry fruit rushing forth. Only shows hints of its full range, with licorice, incense, graphite and mocha flavors fluttering in the background. Has an iron-clad structure, with a long finish that shows great cut and grip. Best from 2009 through 2025. 14,165 cases made. - JM"
