Château Calon-Ségur Saint-Estèphe 3ème Grand Cru Classé

Wine Description

A pretty nose of raspberry and blackcurrant coulis leads to an elegant palate of fresh bramble fruit and black cherries. Calon-Segur is not a powerful wine in 2009 but it is sophisticated with fine, gentle tannins and a twist of sweet spice on the finish.

(2005 Vintage) Deep, bright ruby-red. Deeply pitched aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, leather, smoked meat, earth and menthol. I'd give this classic St. Estephe a decade of aging, at which time this wine may well merit an even higher score.

It will undoubtedly close down after b...

(1995 Vintage) Good deep red-ruby color. Black cherry, leather, olive and a hint of crystallized berries; fresher on the nose than the '97. Sweet, firmly structured and very nicely balanced, with strong but integrated acidity and very good flavor definition. Tannins are ripe and fine.
