Wine Description

(From 2008 Vintage) Deep ruby in color, the 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG displays floral notes of sweet violets combined with hints of cherry jam. The palate is full-bodied and complex with rich flavors of blackcurrent and plums that merge harmoniously with notes of fragrant woods and licorice that extend through the long finish

Winemaker's Notes

"Rich and round, sporting black cherry, raspberry and spice flavors, with dense yet ripe tannins for support. This is balanced and long, presenting a fresh, mineral-laden aftertaste. Drink now through 2023." 92 Points. Wine Spectator

Chronicle score of 19, 9 for quality and 10 for value. The DOCG wine is100% sangiovese from nearly 900 year old property, but it is made in the throughly modern Chianti style, aging for 16-18 months in oak, 50 % of which is new. It's full of juicy ripe cherries and is freshly acidic, with just a trade of tartness and leather. It's elegant and complex - at a deep discount. ABV 14%

A good little chianti, no bite, well worth the money, a great deal.
