(From 2013 Vintage) A super-classic of Montalcino and Banfi. A wine able to match the elegance and solidity of its elder counterpart with a freshness and directness that make it one of the most versitile wines within Banfi’s offer. Very enjoyable when released, it is also suitable for a long aging.
The color is a very deep and intense red with violet hints; the bouquet is of red fruits, raspberries and cherries, but also with sweet hints of cream. On the palate, it has good structure and well developed tannins, soft yet powerful at the same time. A very well balanced and harmonious wine.
Wine Advocate: 90 points The 2009 Rosso di Montalcino is a dazzling wine. Rich dark plums, cherries, spices and tobacco emerge from this extroverted, intense Rosso. The raciness of the fruit leaves a lasting impression. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. Wine Guy: Chianti on steroids! This Rosso has a big black cherry nose and a smooth, medium bodied palate filled with more rich black cherry fruit, supple tannins and classic food-friendly Italian acids. Find Pasta!
