Wine Description

(From «nv» Vintage) The wine opens to reveal lifted fruit aromas of bright strawberry and jammy fruit, mocha, and vanilla, along with toasty oak notes. Expressive boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry, juicy strawberry, and toasty mocha flavors lend complexity and depth on the palate. The well-integrated oak provides structure and depth seldom seen in Pinot Noir.

Winemaker's Notes

Not yet reviewed; PinotFile on the 2008 vintage: 13.9% alc., 65% Sonoma County, 20% Monterey County,15% Santa Barbara County. Pronounced 'May-OH-mee,' which is 'coast' in the language of California's Wappo tribe. Intensely fruity and penetrating nose with effusive scents of ripe dark berries accented with notes of sandalwood, oak and cigar box. A rich, but smooth and caressing wine in the mouth, with a multilayered core of berries and a complimentary underpinning of toasty oak. The soft tannins make for easy drinkability and this wine is far more approachable read more...than any of the three vineyard-designated Pinot Noirs from Belle Glos. This Pinot really shows off California coastal fruit, is one of the best values in California Pinot Noir on the market today, and is the best California appellation Pinot Noir bar none. (hide)

ChkMate911 - 9/25/2011 Rating: 91 needs about an hour to open up Joegish - 9/24/2011 Rating: 90 Great value as always for under $20. Still like the 08 a little better, but we enjoyed this one better than previous bottles of the 09.....maybe a little time in the cellar is helping? bpobric - 9/24/2011 Rating: 90 Well done Pinot for the money....Fresh fruit, medium finish, nice spice - as vanilla in combination with water stone, earth and dirt can certainly be felt and tasted ....Will try again. RJandGB - 9/18/2011 Rating: 88 Delightful and good value for the money. Nice fruit but not overpowering. One of the lighter BG pinots. It paired well with a variety of dinner entree choices.
