(2001 Vintage) This 2001 chardonnay was produced from grapes grown in the Columbia Gorge (44%) and the Columbia Valley (56%) in southeastern Washington State. The grapes were hand picked, sorted, and whole cluster pressed. The average yield was near 3.2 tons per acre, and the grapes were harvested in late September of 2000. Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2006 Vintage) Long on oak, fairly spicy and faintly nutty in tone, this weighty, firmly built wine makes up in richness for what it may lack in the way of obvious fruit. It is solid but a still bit tight in feel, and it strikes us as one that will find genuine benefit with a few years of further development.
