(2012 Vintage) Dark ruby. Pungent smoke- and spice-accented aromas of raspberry, cherry-cola and zesty minerals. Offers vibrant red fruit and candied rose flavors, with a touch of bitter blood orange adding focus and grip. Shows the urgency of a cooler vintage but with the depth of fruit one expects from wines made from this area. Finishes silky and long, with resonating minerality and excellent spicy persistence.
Deep color for a Pinot. Trademark WS nose except heavy hints of cola, sassafras, and dark cherry. Velvet on the tongue but with a little more tannin grip. A WOW wine.

Vista Verde is the killer wine
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2006 Vintage) A perennial favorite in these pages, this Pinot hails from the very heart of what many, including ourselves, view as one of the top two or three Pinot patches outside of the very best in Burgundy. It starts with exceptionally concentrated fruit redolent of sweet red cherries kissed with notes of vanilla, honey, toast and clove-like spices and continues with a delight-fully supple entry texture and a firming backbone of evident but not intrusive tannins.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2004 Vintage) There is plenty of rich fruit in the nose of this nicely filled wine, but, if obviously extracted, it is a little less generous with its cherry-like flavors than promised. Bound up and tightened by a bit of pushy, slightly piquant acidity at the moment, it should benefit by a few years of time in the cellar in which to settle down and expand.
