Williams Selyem Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2003 Vintage) Its basic Pinot red cherry character notwithstanding, this wine is slightly compromised by a piquant, almost green edge that joins its varietal fruit at every stop. Slightly velvety at entry, then firm and tasting of a citrusy hint in its lengthy finish, this one might be at its most rewarding alongside fish like snapper or halibut prepared with Mediterranean spices.
International Wine Cellar(2003 Vintage) Good deep red. Musky, truffley aromas of plum, blackberry, currant, tobacco, smoked meat, cola and espresso, with a note of charred oak. Then supple and spicy in the mouth, showing more meat and truffle than fruit. Could use a bit more mid-palate definition. Finishes with light, dusty, slightly dry tannins.
