(From «nv» Vintage) Aromas of cassis and caramel rise and give way to earthy notes of black olive, black pepper, and truffles. Classic flavors of cassis and black cherry fill the mouth as notes of violets and vanilla linger on the finish.Enjoy this wine with braised short ribs on a cold winter's night or with a porcini and gorgonzola burger for you gourmet grillers.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2011 Vintage) Stag's Leap Wine Cellars and owner Warren Winarski can arguably claim to have put Napa Valley wines on the world map. It was 37 years ago when Stag's Leap Cabernet won the famous Judgment in Paris Tasting in May 1976, beating out the best classified Bordeaux made the world stop and look to Napa Valley. A third of a century later they're still producing some of the best wines in the world. The quality and character of the Stag's Leap wines also lead to the Stags Leap District being granted AVA status. That quality carries through their entire line and shows through in Artemis, their Napa Valley Cab that's a blend of estate grapes from Fay, SLV and Arcadia vineyards with grapes from other top quality Napa growers throughout the valley. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, aged 16 months in 35% new French oak. In 2011 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars reduced production dramatically to focus on creating the best quality wine. Grapes were ha n d selected in the vineyards and the winery allowed only the healthiest fruit in the final sort. This 2011 won a Gold Medal at the Dallas Wine Competition and a Silver Outstanding Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London.

(From 2004 Vintage) Although it is the least pricy of the 2004 Stag's Leap collection, this soft, slightly earthy, vaguely leathery wine is a touch limited when it comes to delivering well-defined fruit, and it dries up ...

(From 2001 Vintage) Napa Valley. Bright, buoyant and nicely filled with youthful fruit that smacks of both blackcurrants and cranberry, this gracefully oaked and nicely polished wine shows a bit of Cabernet's loamy side and offers glimpses of complexity to come. It is firmed at the finish by both tannin and evident acidity just now, and, if hardly a bruiser that demands a decade of age, it is sure to gain in richness for several years.
