(From 2009 Vintage) This wine opens with tea and cranberry aromas layered with mocha and vanilla. The palate is lush, fruity and juicy with raspberry, crushed black pepper and balancing acidity. While the 2009 Zinfandel is absolutely enjoyable upon release, it will gain bottle bouquet and aromatics over the next three years.
(From 2009 Vintage) Harvested in small lots, the grapes were allowed to cold soak up to three days before fermentation. They were inoculated with yeast strains specifically isolated to enhance the raspberry fruit. The wine was pressed slightly sweet to avoid excessive tannins. The individual lots were racked off the lees and re-racked into both new and used Hungarian oak barrels where it spent nearly a year. Any lighter Zinfandel lots were supplemented with Petite Sirah.
