(From 2012 Vintage) The driest in California's history with Napa receiving only half of it's normal average rainfall. But, with respect to grape quality, there was good news, too: heavy rains in February and early March gave the vines emerging from dormancy a rejuvenating boost. And the overall dry season resulted in smaller berry size that concentrated and added depth to the fruit's inherent flavors. Nature made it a challenging year but ultimately rewarded us with another early and outstanding harvest. The majority of fruit for this vintage was sourced from Carneros with additional select lots from Rutherford and southern Napa vineyards. The wine was fermented in a combination of stainless steel to preserve the fruit's natural lush flavors and aromatic qualities and barrel sur lies to impart a rich, buttery mouthfeel. This is a deliciously versatile wine excellent as an aperitif or paired with chicken and grilled fish entrees, creamy vegetable soups and cheeses.
