A deep, purple hue leads ultra-ripe blackberry, boysenberry, briar and cocoa aromas. Across the midpalate, a complex layering of rich, dark fruit develops, balanced by complex wood tannins that flank the tongue and pick up bright currant notes through the lengthy finish. Nice wine. Very smooth. It is ok and i would not hesitat to serve to guests. However for the price i would prefer to try a new wine.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(2006 Vintage) 13% Petite Sirah. There is a mix of drama and control in this wine, and it deviates from the expected norm for Rockpile Zinfandels to its great benefit. The depth and intensity possible from wines of the area are certainly evident here but so too is a brighter, more vibrant quality that firms up the wine's back end and finish while adding a bit of aging potential that should see it grow in the bottle.
