(From 2001 Vintage) It has layers of black cherry, plum, clove, and cinnamon in both the aroma and flavor. The wine has a long finish of cherry and plum with a light vanilla note from oak.
(From 2009 Vintage) This trim and temperate take on Merlot steers away from high ripeness and drama and successfully aims for balance instead. Its slightly underplayed themes of red-cherry fruit are enriched with a bit of vanillin oak, and, if properly firm after its supple beginnings, it is an essentially accessible wine that will hit its peak in but a few years.
Winemaker's Notes: Opening with a burst, this wine boasts aromas of blackberry and boysenberry jam. On the palate, rich, juicy fruit loaded with ripe wild berries, plum, fig and black cherry flavors. Supple tannins and smooth oak notes show in the lush, mouth-filling finish. Our favorite pairings for this wine include braised short ribs over wild mushroom risotto, pizza, and pork tenderloin. WINEMAKER'S NOTES: Wine Tasting Notes Rombauer Vineyards' Zinandel represents the very essence of California Zinfandel. Full bodied, fruit forward, and juicy, this wine boasts bright aromas of black cherry and plum, with a light spicy character all it's own. Layers of cranberries, plums, and dark berries flow together for a rich, full flavor with a sensational mouth feel. A dark berry fruit finish lingers on the palate, complementing the rich flavors of this beautiful wine.
very sweet and jammy. good with spicy food, maybe too sweet on it's own.
