This Cab has classic blackberry and currant fruit flavors, along with cocoa notes, cassis and dusty mint aromas. Like the more expensive Rodney Strong offerings, this is a very well made, mid-palate wine, with no flabbiness or excessive oak to mar your pleasure. Take it out for a spin with a grilled rib-eye. WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Our 2008 Reserve cabernet was created in our small lot winemaking facility, the “winery within the winery.” Under the direction of consulting winemaker David Ramey, we employ cutting edge techniques such as cluster pre-sorting, berry sorting, and extended maceration. With small tanks and equipment sized for the most discriminating vineyard selection process, our new facility is truly state of the art, and represents the Klein family commitment towards producing the finest wines possible.

Medium to medium-dark ruby; attractive, herbal, spicy, ripe, plummy, cassis and blackberry fruit aroma with hints of green peppercorn, tobacco, and cocoa; medium-full to full body; forward, rich, well balanced, cassis and dark berry fruit flavors with overtones of sweet oak; medium-full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very approachable now, though a bit hard on the finish. Highly recommended.

Here’s a fruity, soft, flamboyant Cabernet, packed with plum, blackberry, black currant, licorice, dark chocolate and spicy oak flavors. Delicious and savory, it’s probably showing its best now, so drink up. —S.H.

Wines to try for the week...A cabernet with great structure and concentrated flavors. Notes of black fruit, herbs and spice. Chewy tannins.
