The somewhat closed nose offers plums and grilled meat, while the big mouthfeel delivers generous blackberry, dark chocolate and a well integrated mix of grape and barrel tannins. The finish is exceptionally long with nicely balanced acidity.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2006 Vintage) One could argue that there is a little more toasty pungency than is needed in this wine's moderately intense nose, but there is no disputing that there is also plenty of very deep fruit at work as well. Fleshy and full on the palate and so fruity in flavor that its trim of toast becomes a faint afterthought, the wine shows fine length and balance with a good chance for a few further years of improvement.
