Winemaker's Notes

(From 2005 Vintage) #3 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2008This is an intense and complex wine with a firm, well-structured palate. It shows ripe, concentrated fruit with vibrant acidity and a long finish."Deeply colored, with intense yet refined aromas and flavors of kirsch, boysenberry, dark cherry and spice. The fruit is supported by focused notes of mineral and graphite, and the finish is loaded with dark chocolate and medium tannins. Drink now through 2015." 95 Points Wine Spectator

Dark purple with high viscosity. Big tannins and acid to balance it. Currants and a bit of heat. Good finish and quite lengthy. Can cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for a couple hours. Right bank Douro, ancient vines.
