Michele Chiarlo sources grapes from strictly selected Barbera vineyards with excellent exposure to produce a superb, balanced wine. The choice vineyards are in the southern area of Asti province, especially the hills around Nizza Monferrato.
Tasting notes: Medium bodied and robust with rich, ripe fruit on the nose and an elegant palate.Pairs well with chicken, mushrooms, pork and grilled or roasted red meats.
Costco wine. Dark burgundy with pink rim. This wine benefits from decanting. Opens with lots of dark fruit and roses but then develops nuances of flint, cocoa nibs, dried flowers. Flavors of the same with low tannins and medium plus acids. Great value for the price. Think pizza, red sauced pastas, low fat red meats.

Wine & Spirits(From 2007 Vintage) Chiarlo's 2006 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Le Orme is a delicious, fragrant Barbera. Made in a medium-bodied style, it offers notable harmony in its ripe red fruit, minerals and spices. Silky, refined tannins round out this terrific effort, which is a steal for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
