(2000 Vintage) Rating: 94/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 114, May/June 2004 Reticent but complex nose combines smoke, apricot and menthol. Sappy and rather powerful in the mouth without coming across as phenolic. Strong flavor of baking spices. Rather dominated today by its structure, but this also possesses lovely sweetness of fruit. A less exotic style of chardonnay than the Upper Barn.

(2003 Vintage) Rating: 92(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 126, May/June 2006. Medium yellow. Slightly reduced aromas of pineapple, biscuit and crushed stone; this smells like Schlossberg riesling. Then fat and rich but a bit reduced and warm today, and very difficult to taste. In a rather brooding stage and rather uncompromisingly dry, with a light saline element on the back. But the wine's clean flavors and firm minerality leave me optimistic for its future development in bottle.
