Louis Martini Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2011 Vintage) This wine has flavors of black plum jam and ripe loganberries. Hints of oak and a touch of Christmas spice support the fruit. The cooler vintage created a finish with a classical, Old World structure.

A great value. bought 6 bottles for $10 each. winemaker's notes: The 2008 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted from several of Sonoma County’s most prestigious appellations and blended seamlessly to bring together the unique characteristics of each, creating a superbly balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. Made to accentuate the hightoned, delightful fruits of Sonoma County's vineyards, the wine offers many layers, featuring aromas and flavors of red cherry, blackberry and fresh sage with an underlying dry creek dustiness. Subtle herbal notes are complemented by additional layers of chocolate and vanilla, resulting in a complex, yet easy to enjoy, wine.

Admittedly, I love Italian wine almost exclusively, and hoped this you tickle my taste. I didn't.

(From 2000 Vintage) 19% Merlot. Far and away the preferred bottling over its lesser mates below, Martini's Napa Valley version is a medium-deep, well-defined Cabernet that presents attractive cherry and cassis themes with a helpful dollop of creamy oak. Its nicely measured tannins will support a bit of time in the cellar, and three or four years of age will find it at its peak.
