Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc Rutherford

Wine Details

Wine Description

(2012 Vintage) The Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in two different periods - one at lower sugars and one at higher sugars. All of the grapes were ripe, but each pick offered different nuances. We loved all the separate wine lots and enjoyed the synergy of blending. This wine has classic LMR varietal freshness and charm; it's difficult to believe this wine was grown in Cabernet country. Its fruits range from citrus to kiwi to just-ripe peach. The salty and mineral characteristics which grow out of our terroir and cold fermentations have become signature and reliable. The finish is crisp, full-of-esters and balanced. Consider this wine perishable and enjoy while young.

(2011 Vintage) "One of the first 2011 Sauvignon Blancs to be released, this is fresh, fruity and zesty in acidity. Like a walk through a spring rain, it awakens the senses, with savory citrus, lemongrass, vanilla and mineral flavors that finish dry and spicy." 91pts, Editors’ Choice. —S.H.

(2010 Vintage) Rating: 90pts - As reviewed by Wine Enthusiast on 07/14/11. There's no oak on this wine, which let's the fruit star. It does a bravura performance, with turns of pineapples, limes, gooseberries and tart mandarin oranges that finish in a swirl of spices. Acidity adds a brilliant zestiness, and even though the wine is only 12.9 alc by volume, this wine is totally dry. EDITORS CHOICE. -S.H.
