(2014 Vintage) Low rainfall in the winter and spring followed by a warm, temperate summer caused fruit across California to mature faster and be picked earlier. The shorter than normal growing season caused the fruit to develop faster resulting in intense fruit flavors and soft acidity. Small fruit clusters from decades-old, head trained vines in Lodi and Amador make up the larger part of this blend giving the wine it’s intense concentration. Fruit from the cool.
A wonderful drinking wine. alone or as a compliment for food. Not particularly complex, but delicious.
enjoyable Zin. enough tannins to keep the Zin fruitiness from overwhelming, as is the case w/ some zins
One of the most enjoyable wines. not complex, but fantastic. fruit forward and smooth as silk.
very sharp bite at the start. the spices and currant flavor were a little overwhelming
light-bodied zin, went very well with Laurie's quick cioppino
Wine & SpiritsFor this intense wine, Gott sources the fruit from some of the best growing areas for Zin mdash; Lodi, Amador and Napa Valley. Deep ruby color, aromas of vanilla, anise, wild strawberries and cherries swirl from the glass along with a hint of milk chocolate. On the palate, tart red raspberry joins the flavor profile and lifts the wine to a mouthwatering, refreshing level. Impressive and irresistible!
