Groth Wines

Wine Description

(From 2012 Vintage) Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. The sweet vanilla character derived from 22 months in the barrels blends well with the black cherry and blackberry flavors and aromas of the wine

Winemaker's Notes

Dazzling. Easily the best Groth Cabernet in many years, dry, full-bodied and crazily rich in blackberries, cherries, tobacco and new oak. The ripe, sweet fruit is held in check by brisk acidity and firm tannins, resulting in an exciting tension.

rustic nose, dirty dishwater... opens in time to be more reflective of the flavor... amazingly smooth wine, fantastic flavors of dark berry Cabernet, coats the mouth with tannins, sweet flavor with NO sugar. just delicious, too bad everyone else loves this flavor, makes the wine very popular, and expensive.

(From 2003 Vintage) Solidly varietal aromas of dried grasses and hay, melon and citrus are moderately rich and just a little on the pungent side. Slightly rounded yet also a touch narrow and pinched, the wine picks up a stony, minerally edge and closes with a hint of bitterness in its otherwise mildly fruity aftertaste.
