The aroma is complex with notes of cherry, earth, smoke, cedar and flowers. The flavors are predominantly plum, blackberry, mushroom and strawberry shaded with toasty oak.
With excellent weight, a succulent texture and beautifully balanced acidity, this Pinot Noir reflects the depth and diversity of great Anderson Valley winegrowing. The nose offers a sophisticated medley of aromas, including cranberry, anise, chocolate-covered cherry, toasty oak, truffles and wildflowers. On the palate, it is ripe, round and complete, with layered fruit flavors and barrel char notes that echo the complex aromatics.
Wine Spectator(From 2010 Vintage) Rating: 91/100 - As reviewed by Wine Spectator on 06/26/2013
Wine & Spirits(From 2007 Vintage) This wine makes a strong first impression: a bold hit of dark berries, a cool, spicy length of flavor that’s more than just fruit. There’s an earth tone to the tannin that adds a subtle black olive-skin or black mushroom savor. And then oak makes its presence clear. Supple and juicy, this should evolve well over the next several years.
Wine Spectator(From 2002 Vintage) "This rich, hearty Pinot exhibits a broad, complex range of ripe black cherry, raspberry and wild berry fruit flavors that are well-defined and long and persistenton the palate, ending with a burst of flavor and ripe, supple tannins."
