(2001 Vintage) Lovely, almost black colour. It shows an extraor- dinary texture which, on the nose, expresses power and delicacy at the same time. In the mouth, the wine is compact, deep and long, giv- ing the impression of a magnificent tapestry. The Romanée-St-Vivant 2001 is an exceptional wine, it stands out in the vintage.
Burghound(1976 Vintage) "Aged burg nose of Asian spices and a hint of sous bois with pretty, nicely spicy flavors that have quite a bit of tannin poking through on the finish. However, there is good richness to more or less buffer the tannins and while this does not display classic La Tâche power and balance, it does offer plenty of spiciness. i would be inclined to drink up though this will hold for several more years."
Wine Spectator(1985 Vintage) "Red to brown center, orange edge. Seductive fruit and spice bouquet, with fleeting notes of cherry, kirsch and rose. Warm and spicy on the palate, elegant yet sumptuous, showing fine length and harmony. This turns more acidic and fragile after about an hour in the glass.--La Tâche non-blind vertical. Drink now through 2012."

Burghound(1998 Vintage) "A beautifully spicy nose is finally beginning to open to reveal wonderfully complex and spicy aromatics and fruit that is still 100% primary. The medium full, rich, spicy and intense flavors possess ripe tannins underpinning the considerable but softening structural spine and it's clear that this will definitely require another 6 to 8 years in the cellar. Multiple, and consistent, notes."
