A dark plum/ruby/purple-tinged color is followed by a sexy, up-front perfume of forest floor, damp earth, blue and red fruits and a touch of spicy oak. Lush with low acidity and sweet tannin.
(From 1988 Vintage) Deep ruby / purple, with a moderately intense bouquet of cedar, plums, and currants, the 1988 Lascombes is a spicy, robustly-styled Margaux. Medium to full-bodied and well-balanced.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines(From 2006 Vintage) 50% Merlot; 45% Cabernet Sauvignon; 5% Petit Verdot. A touch sweeter in scent owing to both obvious ripeness and an extra measure of rich oak, Lascombes intimates a sense of juiciness that separates it from its classmates in 2006. It is a touch dry at the finish, and its relatively fine-gained tannins afford it room to grow without adding prohibitive toughness.
