Wine Description

Open fruit, rich, lush and layered, serving up a complex mix of plum, blackberry, black licorice and spices. Full-bodied and supple-textured, ending with a long, persistent finish that keeps repeating the core flavor themes.

(From 2009   Vintage) A flashy, opulent Cabernet. This wine is rich, full-bodied, and loaded with black chocolate, currants and cherry fruit. Notes of baking spices and tobacco add character to the finish. The rich, ripe tannins add incredible texture and depth.

    Dark scarlet color and near opaque. Nose is assertive with a vibrant array of showy characteristics—cassis, vanilla, cranberry, French oak, coffee and potpourri. The palate of this wine shows ripeness of mature grapes, fruit impressions then expands to richness with fine gritty tannins. Abundant with layered flavors of brown spice, toasted oak, white pepper and creme de cassis— very rich yet harmonious and supple..

    The new vintage of Caymus Napa Cabernet is here! This is a beautifully perfumed, supple wine, drinking amazingly well considering how young it is. The wine will be available for shipment in July, but you can choose to ship your order up to 6 months later if you want to wait for cooler weather. Steven Tanzer in his International Wine Cellar called the 2008 vintage in Napa Valley for Cabernet a "very pleasant surprise. The low yields and vine stress made for small, deeply colored, highly concentrated grapes. Many cabernet producers in Napa Valley told me that the skins were rich in phenolic material and easy to extract... I particularly enjoy the immediate aromatic appeal of many of these wines—especially the floral and mineral tones that are not yet as widely evident in the generally denser and more serious 2007s. In retrospect, it may turn out that winemakers who got their fruit sufficiently ripe, yet made wines with a somewhat wider range of ripeness than usual, will have produced wines with atypical complexity."

    Black fruit and black pepper on the nose. On the palate, black currant, dark red plum, black pepper. Nice long finish with mild cocoa? Really smooth and silky texture.
