Phillip and John Bargetto emigrated from Italy at the turn of the century. They purchased the winery in 1918 and produced wine out of an old barn. Their sons joined them in the business and expanded the winery’s varietal lineup to include local varietals such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The 2007 Carignane is from 95 year old vines at Rauser Vineyard just outside Lodi. These vines are huge with arms as thick as tree trunks. This is a lighter style of red wine with aromas of cherry and violets. When tasted the cherry aroma follows through as sweet cherry pie with hints of toasty oak. This is a wine to be savored in warm summer weather. Colin McNany, Assistant Winemaker
Very drinkable now, cellar up 2-5 years.
