2008 Amici Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Wine Description

(From 2009 Vintage) Firm, concentrated and well-built, with a tight band of cedar, dried berry, black licorice and crushed rock. Ends with good length and depth.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2012 Vintage) The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve ratchets up the level of fruit, extract, power and depth. This outstanding wine exhibits notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberries and flowers, sweet tannin nicely framed by subtle oak, medium to full body, and a rich, authoritative personality.

Ruby color, highly aromatic, aromas of black berry, bounty full flavor, crisp style, flavors of currant, black berry and molasses, off-dry sweetness, medium acidity, complex, full-body, perfect balance with lingering finish.

  • Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines
(From 2002 Vintage) Fairly ripe, hinting ever so slightly at raisins and geared to dark chocolate from beginning to end, this weighty but rather stolid and lackluster wine runs into abrupt finishing tannins and dulls out to dryness without having given more than a passing glance in the direction of fruit.

(From 2007 Vintage) "Darker and richer than Amici’s second label (Olema), this is anchored by ripe cassis and chocolate flavors. Cedary oak and minty accents add complexity, while the mouthfeel is velvety soft, finishing with a touch of warmth. Probably best consumed over the next few years." --Steve Heimoff
