The wine is a blend of classic Bordeaux varietals- Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, and Malbec. Each vineyard block is vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks. The wine is then barreled down into discrete lots and aged in new French Oak barrels for twenty months. Our 2007 Napa Valley Black Label Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted from our top Estate Vineyards: Leopoldina, Amoenus and Fortuna. Restrictive volcanic soils, both red clay and white tufa types, yield a wine that is deeply concentrated, with rich minerality. This wine is characterized by aromas and deep flavors of dark fruits--black cherry, cassis and sun ripened blackberries--and balanced by a dense layer of sweet chocolate and roasted coffee. This is a wine of power and finesse--full bodied yet supple--approachable in its youth but capable of extended bottle age.

Rating: 94 pts Parker Tasting Notes: Perhaps the best wine I have ever tasted from Turnbull is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label. An absolutely compelling example of Cabernet Sauvignon, with blueberry, blackberry, cassis, licorice, camphor, and graphite, this wine is intense and full bodied, with sweet tannin, layers of concentration, a multi dimensional personality, and a terrific finish of close to 45 seconds. This wine will be better in 5-6 years but will last 25 or more. It's hard to believe this winery has been in operation for 30 years, placing it among the older ones in Napa Valley. I was very impressed with their Cabernet Sauvignons.
