Wine Description

(From 2006 Vintage) A very fine wine, basically a Bordeaux blend except with a splash of Syrah, which adds a meat and violet flower note to the ripe, powerful black currants. New oak shows up in the smoky, cedary overlay. It’s a tannicly dry wine, in the way of Napa mountain Cabs, but so balanced and refined.

Winemaker's Notes

(From 2011 Vintage) An interesting conuence of events brings us a mountain cuvée to remember, one I know you’ll really enjoy. It’s no secret the vintage was challenging, but frankly, we were more than up to that challenge. We’ve been replanting select blocks on the mountain, featuring more Malbec, which does superbly here. As a result, we’ve crafted this wine with a fair amount of Malbec, Syrah and some of our favorite Cabernet Sauvignon blocks, resulting once again in a singular, distinctive expression of Mount Veeder. The Malbec brings notes of blueberry, black licorice and chocolate, while the Syrah and Cabernet feature red fruits alongside black currant and wild raspberry. A bit of oak spice, vanilla and clove wander in the background. The tannins here are soft and very approachable. A wine built to enjoy right now, or to explore a bit further down the road as it gains even greater complexity.
