Switchback Ridge Peterson Family Vineyard Petite Sirah Napa Valley

Wine Details

Petite Sirah

Wine Description

(2010 Vintage) A blueberry and boysenberry pie! So ripe and jammy you could spread it on an English muffin! A huge wine with intensely concentrated fruit that is framed by abundant tannins that are gripping, yet surprisingly soft and silky. There is nothing angular about this wine. A sweet, rich mid-palate coats your palate and leads to a long, lasting finish.

(2001 Vintage) Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 114, May/June 2004 ($45; no new oak used!) Full medium ruby. Black fruits, licorice and menthol on the nose. Big, sweet, round and rich, with compellingly thick, primary flavors of black fruits and fruit cake. Finishes with big, broad, chewy tannins but no rough edges. Very impressive petite sirah, with little overt oakiness to stand in the way of its expressive fruit. These wines are made by Bob Foley.
