Wine Description

(From 2012 Vintage) “Relentless, a riveting blend of Syrah and Petite Sirah, is a groundbreaking red from Napa Valley This was a classic Napa Valley vintage filled with warm, sunny days and perfect, chilly nights from spring through early autumn. The consistency of heat and coolness created a model growing season in which we harvested fruit at ideal ripeness brimming with rich color and flavor.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2007 Relentless starts with glass-filling aromas of dark fruit, truffles and grilled meat, which is the Syrah talking. In the mouth the wine is smooth, round and elegant with meaty flavors, black cherry and plum, black tea, and black licorice. The firm, nicely ripen tannins ensure this will age magnificently.

"Relentless" would seem a good name for a Syrah that just keeps on coming at you with concentrated, deep, compelling blackberry aromas tinged with notes of creme brulee, espresso and saddle leather. It is full in body and certainly high in tannin, yet it never loses focus or continuity, and its finish is as tasty as its fancy beginnings. There is no faulting the youthful rusticity that is so evident at this point, but a half decade of quiet cellaring will see the wine open up an...
