(From 1997 Vintage) Quiviras traditional Sauvignon Blanc style showcases perfectly ripe fruit with characteristic melon, citrus and fig flavors, subtly enhanced and integrated with French oak. Estate grapes, grown in gravelly soils along the banks of Dry Creek, are the source of Quivira Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is partially fermented, then aged three months in French oak barrels.     In the past, we have found much to like in this combination of vineyard and vintner, but, in this outing, the wine is hard and ungainly in feel and its lean flavors are overtaken by off-putting, grapefruity bitterness after it teases with a bit of green-melon fruit in the nose.
