Wine & SpiritsRating: 95/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 10/09. Perrières is the site of an old stone quarry, a walled vineyard near the border with Puligny, where Pierre Morey purchased 1.28 acres in 1987. He has farmed this parcel under biodynamic practices since 1998. It produced a flashy, Old World style of Burgundy in 2007, a heady mix of beeswax, wildflower honey, freshly churned butter, earthier notes of mushrooms and fresher scents of lemon zest. The wine's grand complexity all emanates from the chalky stone character at its center. One of our panelists, Mariko Kobayashi, commented that "the wine has identity rather than personality." It's all about the terroir rather than the winemaker, and it is magnificent terroir.
