(2013 Vintage) This Pinot Noir has rich aromas of raspberry jam and brandy- macerated cherries. Its luxurious density and beautiful structure are hallmarks of the 2013 vintage. Round flavors and balanced tannins finsh with nuances of vanilla and star anise. Classic pairings like pan-seared duck breast with a cherry reduction work very well, along with many meaty or smoky dishes. Even baked fish topped with herbs and Provencal-inspired tomato and garlic sauce.
Even the value priced guys get one right every once in a while. It may be the 2007 vintage made a star out of everyone, but this one came out pretty good. It is from the Russian River. The color is light, it is only medium bodied at best. What it has going for it, is lots of true Pinot Noir flavor. At first sniff and taste, I got enough gamy, meaty, spicy flavors and aromas to think about giving it the 90 point number. By the end of the glass, it did not quite hold up in the complexity department, but still quite respectable. Plenty of strawberry and bing cherry fruit. Nice balance. Spicy, fruity, and some creamy vanilla on finish.
Very nice spice pinot fruit nose! it says: this is going to be good! Very nice mouthfeel, spicy/fruit... long finish. Great stuff, best CA pinot for some time. some tannic structure here, time to get better and better, legendary vintage '07. pure pinot!
nice bouquet. good for sipping but too weak to hold up to any food
