Peju Winery Fifty-Fifty Red Napa Valley

Wine Details

Wine Description

Best described as Merlot elegance meets Cabernet power, this beautiful and dramatic wine exudes aromas of juicy strawberries, boysenberries, tea leaves and brandied chocolate-covered cherries, with a touch of nutmeg and forest floor. Packed with medium rich tannins and flavors of fresh bramble berries, plum and cocoa power, the long silky finish has hints of white pepper and sage. Best from 2010 to 2015.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2007 growing season was marked by a dry spring and early veraison, which led us to believe 2007 would be a quick harvest, but cooling conditions in September and October turned it into one of the longest. Moderate yields were punctuated by smaller berries and a larger skin to pulp ratio resulting in sweet, delicious tannins and exceptional color in the reds. Harvested in October, 2007 from our Persephone Vineyard where altitude and soil contribute to wines that are intense, layered and complex in flavor.

"Made from equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It's quite good and rich, with strong, upfront blackberry, cherry, currant and oak flavors and a dry, spicy finish. The softness mitigates against aging, so drink now--2013. Only 806 produced." S.H.
