About the Winery

This Cabernet has a classic style and structure worthy of its heritage. After 86 years abandoned, the Palmaz family resurrected this historic wine. The label design was taken from a rubbing of the 1889 barrel brander.

(2007 Vintage) This acclaimed vintage exhibits a concentrated balance of dark fruit flavors and opulent oak notes with beautiful transitions throughout. The structure of this wine promises to age elegantly with an abundance of fine grained tannins exhibiting our signature style of supple rich texture. This is a vintage of extraordinary depth and complexity and has lived up to all the anticipation for this renown Napa Valley vintage. This is a wine that will promise to cellar extraordinarily well but at the same time if you can not wait and drink one now, you will not be disappointed. 90 Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate: This old ghost winery, which has been resurrected, has produced their best wine to date. Dark ruby/purple, with a nose of graphite, black currants, violets, and some chocolate, the medium to full-bodied texture of the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon builds incrementally. The fruit is pure, rich, and concentrated, the finish long and authoritative. The wine, which is very approachable now, should drink well for at least 10-15+ years." (Dec. 2010)

89 Points, Wine Enthusiast:

"A textbook, modern Napa Cabernet that offers plenty of varietal pleasure, with blackberry, cassis, chocolate and oak flavors liberally framed in fine sweet oak, and wrapped into luxurious tannins. A little too obvious in its charms, but it could surprise down the road. — S.H." (4/1/2011)

89 Points, Wine Spectator:

"Despite a rustic edge, the earthy dried currant and blackberry flavors at the core are tight, concentrated, focused and authentic, with hints of blueberry and mineral showing on the finish. The tannins clamp down tight at the end. Decant for now. Best from 2011 through 2021. 2,900 cases made. –JL" (10/31/2010)
