The fruit was able to ripen fully and develop aromatic intensity, yet maintained bright freshness and acidity. Despite being the earliest harvest in years, our 2013 wines are stunning in their rich coloring and outstanding complexity.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesShowing the same obvious ripeness and the extra oak richness for which its pricey Pahlmeyer cellarmates are known, this latest Jayson Chardonnay is nicely focused on keenly defined, apple-like fruit even though unstinting in oak. It gets a welcome lift in brightness and life from a rush of last-minute acid, and, while it is always a big and fairly powerful wine, it stops short of being too much of a good thing.
