(From 2011 Vintage) A claimed favorite varietal to both Michael and David Phillips, Syrah was first planted by the brothers in 1982 after falling in love with the wines produced from the grape on a trip through southern France. This vineyard located just a stones thrown from the winery is one of the earliest plantings of Syrah in California! With Michael's son Kevin continuing the Phillips grape growing tradition into the 6th generation, this Syrah vineyard was one of the first he tended to as Vineyard Manager of Michael David Winery.
(From 2012 Vintage) From a black grape that makes red wine, the 6th Sense remains a huge player in the Michael David lineup. Super-saturated, big and juicy, it makes a bright, tangy impact. Full of flavor in the same deep-red tones as the aromas, tannins are tame. The mid-palate offers plum and blackberry, with a touch of mulberry.
